Tip: Kid’s web browsers
If you are a parent, you might be interested to know, if you don’t already, that there are web browsers specially made for kids. (Web browser is the thing you watch web pages with, like Internet Explorer.) There are several, and as a childfree I haven’t tried them, but you should! These browsers are designed to filter out inappropriate content to make the web a safer environment for your kid. From a content producers point of view, I find it sometimes tiring having to watch my words so that kids won’t get bad influences....

Did you know that most heart breaking emails that you get are hoaxes? Kids gone missing, presidents thrown out of their legal position, kittens stuck into a jar and the sort, they’re all a load of bull. Even if you can’t possibly imagine why someone would send a hoax like that, check it. It’s very likely that it’s a college boy’s prank. It’s VERY EASY to find out whether or not you should forward the email by copying a section of the email (names are good) and searching it through Google. Chances are that...

When I first heard about it last weekend, it made my stomach turn. I had just moved to a country that I thought was perfect in most senses – if the higher broad band prices and slower connections that I had gotten used to didn’t count. Internet to me is like a life line. It helps me breath easier. And now, they want to tell me that they want to control my breathing. They want to make sure, that I don’t say anything that they don’t approve. Seriously, if this bill goes through, we’re moving to New Zealand. (Prepare for a flood...

I am surprised every time I get a forwarded email that is so clearly a hoax that it could have been written on it: “This is a hoax, but read the story, it’s so heart wrenching that you just HAVE TO forward.” Do you remember Bonzai-kittens? Did you know they were a hoax played by a bunch of students? Did you forward it? Did you get outraged? Chances are you did. Oh boy you are not alone. The amount of children waiting to die of cancer in your email is staggering. African presidents transferring their money out of the country...

Do you ever get the feeling of being used? The latest thing that brought up this feeling was Social Spark. I’ve got tons of friends already, and I haven’t said a word there. I have props for nothing, but my mail box is full of messages “gave you props, hope you do the same for me.” I mean… If props come for nothing, the site would have a field “edit your own props”, and I would find that more appealing than logging in a hundred times to give props for nothing… If you consider spending countless...

As you might already remember, I am the head-editor of a chinchilla-hobbyists member magazine, named, surprisingly, Chinchilla. I needed the member list as an Excel-file to give to the printing service, who will also send the mags to the members. I asked for it on a phone, and the girl I talked to promised to send me the Excel-file by snail mail as she didn’t have a net-connection. I assumed she meant she’d send it on a disk, as I told her what it was needed for. Well, the letter came as agreed, but the Excel-file was printed on...
